When the multifaceted artist Lou Doillon reworks the Free Lance Calamity 4 flagship design, the result is inevitably in her own image : rock, authentic and marked by her highly desirable look.
#A girl, a styles
With her striking looks, her singular and graceful silhouette, the sensually-voiced Franco-British performer is also a fashion icon.
#An artist of many talents
Lou Doillon likes to explore new horizons and inject her personality. Launched in January, the singer-songwriter, actress and model wanted her collaboration with Free Lance to result in designs that reflect her style.
#A bond with the brand that goes back a while...
“I remember, as a teenager, trips with my friends to the Free Lance boutique on Rue du Four, where we'd try on all the models and dream of the day when we could afford them. They had the particularity of being feminine and masculine at the same time, a look that already suited me.”
#A 90s fan!
“When Freelance contacted me at the beginning of 2020 (which proved to be a surprising year for all of us) to ask if I'd like to get on board, I went straight back to the 90s. I have fond memories of that century's final decade, which also signalled the end of my childhood.”
#A revamped iconic duo
Two legendary models with resolutely Wild West features, a rock twist and a feminine charm that Lou Doillon chose to reinterpret: the Calamity 4 in the boot and ankle boot versions.
#Where leather meets metal
This ankle-height, urban and graphic version is rounded off with a heel with metallic touches in gold, nickel and copper tones, which contrast the black leather.
#A detail that makes all the difference.
An extremely sleek chain with round links that matches the colour of the heel is attached to the side buckle's zip to sensually circle the ankle and add a decorative twist.
#Jewelled cowboy boot
The Santiag-inspired Calamity 4 embodies a biker style, but offers a more urban and feminine slant, thanks to different intertwined plaited chains. These neo-style chains are removable for a more understated look to match your mood.
#Black is black
The singer has gone for a deep black leather, which shows off the metallic elements, creating a contrast and reinforcing the rock look that Lou Doillon holds so dear.
#A blend of architecture and boot making traditions
Reinterpreted by Lou Doillon, these models feature pointed toes and bevelled heels that highlight their neat, sleek lines. They are assembled using a Blake stitch, which rests on a square welt for added durability and style.
#The heritage behind a style
“I had the chance to work with a brand that has cultivated boot making traditions since 1870 and which manufactures its designs in the French department of Vendée. This savoir-faire hit a note with me and the team allowed me to create a collection of understated, comfy, robust and unique boots, all "with a special twist".”
